The Institute for Strategic Studies of the National Security Council (NCS), in collaboration with the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) of Japan and the University of Tokyo, hosted the international conference “50 Years of the Helsinki Final Act: European Experience and Asian Future.” Generously supported by the Hanns-Seidel Foundation and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the two-day event brought together more than 30 participants, including researchers, practitioners, and subject matter experts from Mongolia, Japan, Germany, and Finland.

The conference featured six panel sessions and 12 presentations addressing themes of international security, diplomacy, and confidence-building measures, enriched by case studies from the participating countries and beyond. Its success was greatly enhanced by the diverse perspectives of distinguished speakers, insightful discussants, and skilled moderators. The Institute for Strategic Studies extends its sincere gratitude to all collaborating partners, supporters, and participants for their invaluable contributions.
