The 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP27) is being held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Arab Republic of Egypt, on November 6-18, 2022. World leaders gathered in Sharm El-Sheikh for the Climate Implementation Summit on November 7-8 to kick off the COP27. The President of Mongolia, U. Khurelsukh, participated and delivered a national statement expressing Mongolia’s stance on climate change. In his speech, the President Khurelsukh pointed out Mongolia’s consistent support, and contribution, to global efforts against climate change and announced Mongolia’s endeavour to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, by developing and implementing the National Adaptation Plan to enhance the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and its absorption, and strengthen its capacity to adapt to climate change.
From 6 to 18 November, Heads of State, ministers, and negotiators, along with climate activists, civil society representatives and CEOs will discuss on reducing emissions, securing technical support and funding for developing countries to prepare for and deal with climate change, and will pick up the areas not fully resolved or covered at COP26 including loss and damage finance, establishment of a global carbon market, and strengthening commitments to reduce coal consumption.
