Mongolia has become the 82nd member country to join the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) public key pool and has started issuing electronic passports to its citizens. By getting an e-passport, citizens can use their e-passport on the E-Gate device of countries that do not have a reciprocal visa with Mongolia and enter without queuing. From June 1, 2023, electronic passport reading devices will be introduced at airports. When traveling abroad or coming from abroad, citizens can directly enter through the border check by having their e-passport read on a special device at the border of Mongolia without having to interact with anyone.

The e-passport has a total of 48 pages, each page has a special privacy setting, photos of Mongolia’s state sacred places, photos of wild animals included in the red book, and national heritages are featured on the e-passport pages.
