The President of Mongolia U. Khurelsukh presented state medals to the service members of the XI infantry battalion, who honorably performed their duties in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Republic of South Sudan. Mongolia deployed 850 strong infantry battalion to Republic of South Sudan in support of United Nations peacekeeping mission “UNMISS” since 2012.

            Almost 20,000 peacekeepers serve with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan to protect civilians and build durable peace in the conflict-affected country. The civilian, police and military personnel from 73 countries carry out many duties under the mandate provided by the United Nations Security Council.

        Mongolian infantry battalion deployed to Sector unity and based in Bentiu, performing tasks to protect civilians in area of operation.
