President of Mongolia U. Khurelsukh is payed a state visit to the People’s Republic of China on November 27-28 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. During the visit, President U. Khurelsukh and President Xi Jinping held official talks. The head of two countries underlining that the Mongolia-China Strategic Partnership is being successfully developed, reaffirming further build mutual trust and understanding and deepen bilateral relations and cooperation in all spheres.
The Mongolian President emphasized that developing good neighborly relations with China occupies an important position in Mongolia’s foreign policy while underscoring that it is of utmost importance to further enhance bilateral relations and cooperation at a time when the world is facing the challenges of international tensions and global pandemic and reaffirming his country’s adherence to the one-China policy.
During the official talks, the heads of the state of the two countries assessed the current state of Mongolia-China relations and cooperation and determined the future directions of cooperation, and exchanged views in detail on the issues of maintaining the frequency of high-level visits, raising the trade turnover to USD 20 billion over the next five years, increasing the exports of mineral products, sustainably exporting coal from Mongolia to China in the long term, expanding cooperation in oil, as well as accelerating the realization of the joint projects that are funded by grants and soft loans.
Both sides discussed the issues such as enhancing the construction of Gashuunsukhait-Gantsmod railroad, connecting Khangi-Mandal border checkpoint by rail, upgrading the infrastructure of Zamyn-Uud-Erlian border checkpoint, and introducing advanced technologies in strengthening the capacity of border checkpoints. Expressing support for the “One Billion Trees” national movement, which is aimed at bolstering the efforts to combat global warming and desertification, the Chinese President expressed willingness to implement joint projects and programs in this direction. Moreover, the sides also agreed to expand joint efforts in the fight against desertification, yellow dust storms, and land degradation. President U. Khurelsukh reiterated that Mongolia attaches great importance to the development of Mongolia-China-Russia trilateral cooperation and exchanged views with his counterpart on accelerating the implementation of the “Economic Corridor Program”. Moreover, the Presidents of the two countries exchanged views on some issues of international relations of mutual interest.
