The year 2025 marks the fifty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two states. However, their historical interaction extends back to the thirteenth century. In recent decades, the relationship has deepened through high-level exchanges and the establishment of resident embassies in both capitals, reflecting a growing mutual interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Mongolia, engagement with Italy aligns with its \u201cThird Neighbor\u201d policy, designed to balance the dominant influence of its immediate neighbors, Russia and China. Moreover, Italy is one of Mongolia\u2019s key gateways to Europe and the broader Western community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conversely, Mongolia represents a strategic partner for Italy for several reasons. From a geopolitical perspective, the region is of significant interest to Italy, which, despite being a maritime nation, pays close attention to the broader Central Asia region.
